Pensioner Poverty UP Despite Triple Lock!

Today's Sunday Express front page story covers a new report which shows that despite the Triple Lock, pensioner poverty continues to rise, particularly amongst older people living alone. Single older women are the worst affected. The rise in pensioner poverty proves how essential it is that the Silver Voices campaign to fight off all attacks on the Triple Lock is fully supported by all senior citizens. The Silver Voices Director, Dennis Reed is quoted in the article as follows:
Dennis Reed, of campaign group Silver Voices, said: “Those who continue to argue that the triple lock has solved pensioner poverty must now slink away in shame. This research must surely end the debate about the triple lock for the next few years. Any political party that goes into the next general election with a callous policy of reviewing or scrapping the triple lock will rue the day as millions of older voters jump ship to other parties.”
