Plug the Gap Between the Old and New State Pensions!
There is growing anger and frustration from millions of older people at the increasing gap between the old and new state pensions, now standing at an indefensible £56 per week, nearly £3000 a year! The Director of Silver Voices recently took the Pensions Commission Chair to task for not even mentioning this scandal in her first report on the future of pensions in the UK. Furthermore, those of us on the old earnings related, additional state pension find our additional element updated by CPI, not the Triple Lock increase.
Silver Voices will be launching a major campaign in the autumn to expose this scandal and to influence the Final Report of the Pensions Commission due in 2027. The large majority of us are still on the old state pension but the media only ever quotes the much higher new state pension rates.
