Grove Park Growth

Grove Park Growth
The Issue
Greetings,
It has been a pleasure working with the youth of my community and City of Atlanta Parks and Recreation. I donate my time, talent, effort and finances in hopes of making a difference in the lives of young boys and girls from my own neighborhood. However, it has been made very difficult by Grove Park Recreation Center director. The purpose of this petition is to bring light to the unjust nature, discrimination, and lack of support from Keisha Mitchell. I, along with close to 100 other community leaders, coaches, parents, and staff are calling for the replacement of Keisha Mitchell. She has displayed on multiple occasions, and over the last few years that she is not in support of the Grove Park Community and our efforts to grow and elevate our community.
Nearly 4 years ago myself and other volunteer coaches, who also grew up in this community and played sports at Grove Park, decided to bring our talents and give back to the community. Since then, we have faced nothing but constant push back, lack of professionalism and adversity from Ms. Keisha Mitchell. She has made it clear that she doesn't want us there and it almost seems as if she doesn't want children in our community either.
Not only have coaches had issues with her lack of support, cruel words, negative energy and lack of professionalism; but also, several parents, visitors, children, and coworkers have had to endure her raft as well. Over the years several parents have filed complaints, sending emails regarding this matter in which they have detailed reports of their unpleasant experience.
Attached to this cover is a list of parents, coaches, coworkers, and community leaders who are supporting the replacement of Keisha Mitchell in order to ensure the growth, a vessel of positivity, and success at Grove Park Recreation Center moving forward
As a native of the Grove Park community, I have witnessed many of youths fall into the negative temptations and vices that are bred in this community. I have also seen our youth thrive and make it out of community through programs like Grove Park being an outlet to sports, friendships, and just somewhere positive to go, away from the chaos that we lived in on daily basis
