“The recently released and misleading “Griffith City Councils masterplan for the Cemetery and Crematorium” does not make any provisions for a Crematorium to be built in Griffith.  It only provides that “consideration” be given to building one after a further feasibility study is conducted.

We the residents of Griffith believe a crematorium should be a first priority in Stage 1 of the project.(Submissions close on Friday 31st July 2020)  Recently released data from the NSW Government Department, ‘Cemeteries & Crematoria NSW’ outlines that Cremation is preferred 68% of the time over burial and the percentage is increasing every year.

We the residents of Griffith consider a Crematorium is a much-needed facility for the City of Griffith and surrounding areas. We do not believe the present situation should continue where a deceased is transported to Wagga or further afield for cremation.

I urge the Griffith community to sign this petition in support of a local crematorium facility. “
