Winding down this production reduces the world capacity for vaccine production at a time when the new Omicron strain announcement has shown things are likely to get worse.

The Moderna and Pfizer mRNA production lines are likely to be further diverted producing variations to deal with this strain, as boosters for Western countries.

Protecting other countries from COVID-19 is both a humanitarian gesture and a selfish one - we want Australia to be an open participant in a healthy world. Another series of border closures and lockdowns will dramatically damage our economy.

Our government commits tens of billions of dollars to armaments but as an influence war with China, producing and donating AZ vaccine is a vastly cheaper option. The Australian Federal Government is busy talking-up this conflict. Donating vaccines is a strategic offence to limit China's growth of influence in Africa.
