My husband and I bought a new van in August 2016.  When we bought the van from the dealership (at Nyle Maxwell) the sales lady told us where the spare tire was underneath the car and pinky swore that it was there.   We were fortunate that we didn't have a flat and never have to change out the tire.  Usually, the notification system on the dashboard forewarned when there was a tire leak. 

On Christmas Eve (December 24, 2018), we had a flat - and, of course, nobody was opened and it took nearly 3 hours for USAA to find us a tow service that could tow the van and take us home, but they did.  There was no spare tire when my husband and I attempted to change out the tire ourselves.  I was livid.  Nyle Maxwell ended up not being able to repair the tire and it had to eventually be delivered to Discount Tires for replacement of the flat tire.  No spare tire was put on by Nyle Maxwell before (or after) the car was towed to Discount Tires -- and still haven't offered to own up to their responsibility of having a spare tire on the car.

USAA had the van towed to the dealership and they claimed no responsibility for the lack of the spare tire on the van because they said: "none of the cars have spare tires included".  I asked them "Who does that?"  and "Who does that to a person that has disabilities?".  What would happen if the car had a flat and the person was stranded in a strange area with no phone service -- and/or something happened to that person (God-forbid!)?  Would they not hold any liability at that point???

How many other dealerships are not selling spare tires with their vehicles?  What kind of dangers are they putting at risk for their customers?

There ought to be a law that a spare tire is included in the sale of a vehicle and that should be a law enacted immediately!

Please sign this petition and lets at least make it a law in Texas -- if not throughout the United States!
