We are gaining support from large associations to get this law passed. We are working hard to make Betty's Law a reality. Betty deserved better.
What happened to Betty was a deplorable act of gross negligence on those who take an oath to care for patients. Betty should still be here. By sharing what happened to her and the gross lack of care by Pediatric Urgent Care of Denton we hope to save others the same fate as our beautiful little girl.
Betty's law will give much needed information to caregivers and patients when being seen by medical professionals. In Betty's case we had no idea that Madeline Broemsen was an APN. Had we known we could have had the opportunity to receive a second opinion by a Medical Doctor. Instead we believed she was a doctor because she did not wear a badge and did not introduce herself.
The people who are responsible for her misdiagnosis are shamefully in denial and are excusing their lack of care. APN Broemsen did not follow clearly defined standards of care for APN's. APN Broemsen also did not follow her own clinic's policies regarding patient care. The clinic's management did not hold APN Broemsen accountable either. At the time of Betty's death Madeline Broemsen owned a small share of the clinic. As of today Madeline Broemsen owns the majority stake in the clinic.
Ironically in life Betty didn't have the ability to have her voice heard due to her autism. But now Betty has a loud and thundering voice that is being heard. Thank you.
