Brisbane City Council plan to auction off a parcel of greenspace on the corner of Sylvan Road and Land Street on the 6th of November. We urge council to reconsider and instead revitalise this oasis of green! 21 Sylvan Road could be turned into a pocket park and/or a community garden.

This part of Toowong is vibrant and dense. In areas like this we need to maintain our communal greenspace to mitigate the urban heat island effect and provide habitat for native birds and bees. 21 Sylvan Road currently has 7 well established Eucalypt trees, some of the only trees in the immediate area. Studies indicate that exposure to nature, particularly trees, can boost mood and increase feelings of happiness.

Further, greenspaces play a crucial role in managing stormwater and reducing the impacts of flooding. This part of Sylvan Road is flood prone.
