A memorial to be erected in memory of Duncan Keeting, who died because he voted for Brexit
The Issue
Duncan Keeting from Manchester was violently attacked days after the EU Referendum during an argument with a neighbour. Mr Keeting had voted to Leave the European Union and his neighbour Graham Dunn, a Remain voter, took exception and beat him senseless.
Mr Keeting was found dead hours later.
I wish Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester to erect a memorial in honour of of Mr Keeting and to highlight that violence should never be an option over a difference of political opinion. Mr Keeting's death should not be forgotten as it highlights that fascism is still a threat to our communities and threatens us all. We should, in a democracy be able to have a difference of opinion without fear of being attacked and killed for it in 21st Century Manchester.
This intolerance and fascism should be condemned by all and a memorial to Mr Keeting will be a fitting tribute
