Great park Bike/skate park Newcastle.

Great park Bike/skate park Newcastle.
The Issue
As a resident of Great Park, Newcastle, I've seen firsthand how much my two children, along with many other kids in the area, would benefit from a dedicated place to ride their bikes, scooters, and skateboards. Currently, children in our community are constructing makeshift ramps and jumps which often are not safe, putting them at risk as they lack the experience to build secure structures.
Great Park is a vibrant and growing community. However, without a designated space for children and adults to engage in such physical activities, we are missing an opportunity to harness and nurture their energy in a positive and safe environment. A professionally built bike and skate park would not only provide a secure place for play but would significantly enhance the quality of life here in Great Park for families and community members of all ages.
Physical activity is essential, particularly for growing children, and in a world increasingly dominated by screens and technology, having an outdoor outlet where kids can exercise and socialize is invaluable. A skate park would encourage everyone to spend more time outdoors, enjoy fresh air, and cultivate a community around shared interests.
Furthermore, having a dedicated park would lessen the environmental wear and tear on other parts of our estate, currently used for activities they're not designed for. Also, it would mitigate the risks of injury from using unsafe, self-made structures.
According to the Child Accident Prevention Trust, recreational facilities like skate parks reduce the number of accidents compared to facilities that are not purpose-built. Establishing a bike and skate park is an investment in the safety and well-being of our children and the broader community.
Let's come together to urge the local authorities to invest in a bike and skate park in Great Park, Newcastle. This initiative is supported by both the need for safe recreational spaces and the potential to foster a stronger, healthier community.
Please sign this petition to help make this vision a reality for our children and all residents of Great Park.
