Petition updateStop Inviting The Belvoir Hunt To Grantham!Help Us Close Down The Pro-Belvoir Petition...

Grantham Against Blood SportsUnited Kingdom
10 Jan 2017
For those who haven't seen it, a counter petition was created asking for the invites extended to The Belvoir Hunt to Grantham to remain in place in the future. Fortunately, it's not doing very well, and we also believe it to be in breach of quite a few Change.org guidelines. We believe that this petition...
...glorifies violence (and not just to foxes, numerous people have been assaulted in defence of The Belvoir Hunt, some quite seriously) by describing the practice as a 'fine tradition'.
...endorses crime under The Hunting Act 2004.
...will require crime to be committed if the petition is successful in its aims.
What we're hoping for is that people use this information to complain to Change.org and get this petition removed. It won't even take up much time for you to do so as we've created a draft for you to use (although it'd be better if you used your own words - but be polite!). You'll need to fill in a very simple form (see here - http://bit.ly/2jCdzYH) and include the link to the pro-Belvoir Hunt petition (see here - http://bit.ly/2j4J7Fv). Let us know how you get on by forwarding any responses to granthamagainst@gmail.com. Here's the draft...
'To the Change.org administrators,
I'm writing to you to ask that a particular petition be removed, as I believe that it A) endorses an organisation that is the subject of numerous investigations into violent assaults on other people B) endorses an organisation that is the subject of an investigation into wildlife crime & C) endorses an organisation that we believe to be knowingly breaking the law (The Hunting Act 2004) on a regular basis, as evidenced by numerous discoveries such as captive foxes & man-made fox chambers in areas where this organisation operates. With all this in mind, I bring your attention to the following Change.org guidelines that I believe are being violated by this petition…
‘User Content – Abide By The Law & Respect The Rights Of Others - You cannot post any content that violates applicable local or national laws of your country, or international laws or regulations. You are solely responsible for any content you post via the Change.org platform and the consequences of posting it.’ – Section 3 of The Hunting Act 2004 states that ‘A person commits an offence if he knowingly permits land which belongs to him to be entered or used in the course of the commission of an offence under section 1’; I believe this section of national law will be breached if the petition is successful, as it will entail a deliberate invite of the organisation in question.
‘Follow our Community Guidelines – When Posting Content You Must Abide By Our Community Guidelines – Don’ts – No Violence – Ideas are powerful and can be forceful and peaceful catalysts for change. We don’t allow content that directly incites, glorifies, or encourages violence against anyone.’ – The organisation in question is currently being investigated for numerous counts of assault, but the petition author still describes this as a ‘fine tradition’, which I believe constitutes glorification of the violence alleged to have been undertaken in their defense.
‘Follow Our Community Guidelines – When Posting Content You Must Abide By Our Community Guidelines – Don’ts - Don’t Break The Law - You can use Change.org to raise awareness about laws you want to change, but this isn’t a platform for illegal activity. Make sure that your use of Change.org doesn’t violate applicable national law, including laws protecting the rights of other people. For example, make sure you have evidence for claims you make, as we may have to remove content that is established to be defamatory.’ – As well as the ongoing criminal investigation into this organisation for numerous breaches of The Hunting Act 2004, and my belief that the petition aims would constitute an offence under The Hunting Act 2004, there have been other indicators that it is the sole intention of this organisation to continue flouting this legislation.
I look forward to Change.org acknowledging my complaint and expect a decision on whether the petition in question will be removed in due course.
Yours sincerely,’
