The Issue

We, as concerned parents, educators and individuals, recognize that all students – minors especially – reserve the essential right to make choices concerning their bodies, notably relating to intimate and personal beauty treatments. Alarmingly, several beauty courses across our nation's universities and colleges oblige students to serve as 'clients' for diverse beauty treatments, exemplified by bikini waxing, integral to their syllabus. Any refusal to comply can result in their dismissal from the course. It is a blatant infringement of their rights and dignity.

The compelling need for change is clear and pressing. To address this, our demand is threefold: Firstly, we call for immediate policy amendments within educational institutions to protect a student's right to body autonomy; Secondly, guidelines must be altered to eliminate any penalties for students who choose to abstain from such treatments; And thirdly, education programs should focus substantial effort on teaching students to respect and understand the gravity of personal boundaries and consent.

In repurposing our educational ethos, we can seed a culture of respect and accountability within our society. Stand with us. Advocate for the rights of students, for their rights over their bodies and for the assurance of their dignity within educational spaces. Sign this petition today.
