My dear friend Seraphine Habimana is facing a dire situation and urgently needs support. Seraphine has built a life for herself in Ireland, a country that welcomed her, educated her, and became her home. She holds two Masters degrees, one from the Dublin Institute of Technology and another from Dublin City University. Her academic achievements are a testament to her dedication and potential to contribute meaningfully to Irish society.

However, Seraphine is now under threat of deportation to Rwanda, where her safety is not guaranteed. She is a survivor of the Rwandan genocide in 1994, in which she witnessed both of her parents getting murdered.  Deporting her would not only shatter her dreams but could also place her life in grave danger. Seraphine has a profound connection to Ireland and desires nothing more than to live peacefully and pursue her career in the country that nurtured her talents and ambitions.

The Irish government has the power to prevent this terrifying ordeal by granting Seraphine humanitarian leave to remain. By doing so, they will not only save her life but also uphold the values of compassion and justice that Ireland stands for.

I urge the members of the Oireachtas to act decisively and extend this humanitarian gesture. Let us rally together to protect Seraphine and ensure she can continue her life here, unhindered, and in safety.
