Grant Request for Victorian Coroner to hold an inquest into the death of Louisa Ioannidis

Grant Request for Victorian Coroner to hold an inquest into the death of Louisa Ioannidis
The issue
Our much-loved Louisa was only 24 years old when she was tragically found in Darebin Creek, fully dressed, and still wearing her dressing gown. Over a decade later there are still no answers as to how or why she found herself in difficulty at the creek.
We are still left with many unanswered questions and concerns about the initial investigation.
In 2014 a request to hold an inquest into her death was refused.
Our reasons for a new inquest are as follows:
- New evidence challenges the initial findings that the creek was experiencing increased water levels at the time of believed entry.
- To review the original investigation and procedures, based on our belief that potential evidence and avenues of enquiry were not fully explored.
- A recent review of her case challenges the initial findings regarding the circumstances and cause of Louisa's death.
- There is a public interest in ensuring that officers who respond to and investigate similar cases in the future receive adequate training and carry out correct procedures.
Given these factors, we believe that holding an inquest is essential to ensure a comprehensive and accurate determination of the cause and manner of Louisa’s death. Her loved ones deserve clarity and justice.
In light of the new evidence which has been uncovered the public support is essential and crucial in order to have the Coroner to approve an inquest into Louisa’s untimely death.
Please share this petition we need to change the narrative which has been provided to Louisa, we need more people to know her name, her story and give her the justice she deserves.
