Grant Prairie Township Residents the Right to Keep Backyard Chickens

The Issue

I am a resident of prairie township, and my family has a deep affection for chickens. They are not just farm animals for us; they are friendly companions and part of our family. My children adore them as pets.

However, current regulations in our town do not allow residents to keep backyard chickens.(those who live in sub divisons less than an acre) This is an issue that affects many families like ours who see these wonderful creatures as more than just livestock.

Chickens can be beneficial in many ways beyond providing eggs. They help control pests by eating insects and weeds, their droppings make excellent fertilizer for gardens, and they can even reduce stress levels with their calming presence (American Poultry Association).

Moreover, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), keeping backyard poultry is becoming increasingly popular in the United States with over 10 million households involved.

We believe that it should be up to individual residents whether or not they want to keep chickens in their backyards. We ask the local government of Prairie Township to reconsider its stance on this matter.

Please support us by signing this petition so we can give our feathery friends a place in our homes and hearts without any legal hindrance.
