The issue

My mum, PeiYing Lin, is in her 80s and has spent many years traveling between Australia and China on a visitor visa, yearning to stay with her family in Tasmania. For over eight years, we've been waiting for the 143 Parent Visa to allow her the stability of permanent residency. Her presence has not only been a source of comfort and support for our family but is also vital for our well-being. Separation due to visa issues has caused us mental distress, anxiety, and panic attacks, leaving us in tears and constant fear.

Having her in our lives ensures a stable environment for her grandchildren, who deserve to grow up without the looming uncertainty of her absence. My siblings and I have dedicated ourselves to the community—one of us as a healthcare worker and another as a chef—contributions made possible through the support of our mum's presence. It is crucial for our family, both emotionally and practically, that our mum can remain with us permanently.

Granting PeiYing Lin a permanent visa would not only benefit our family but also allow her to live out her remaining years in comfort and stability, surrounded by two daughters who love and care for her deeply. This change will safeguard the emotional and mental health of her grandchildren and further enable us to contribute effectively to society.

Support our plea to grant PeiYing Lin the permanent residency she deserves. Sign this petition and help us reunite our family permanently.
