Title: Grant Justice and a Second Chance for Donard Eugene Beal

Donard Eugene Beal is currently incarcerated in Alabama, serving a 25-year sentence for an attempted murder conviction out of Tuscaloosa County, with an end-of-sentence date of February 26, 2045. At 35 years old, he has already served 6 years of this sentence.

Before his incarceration, Donard was a contributing member of society. He is an honorably discharged Army National Guard veteran who served as a 31 Bravo Military Police officer. He is also a certified welder, air technician, certified miner, and commercial roofer. His work required technical skill and responsibility, including traveling across the country to support industrial operations and environmental safety.

Donard is a father of four children. His incarceration has deeply impacted his family, especially his children who are growing up without their father.

During his incarceration, Donard has completed and received certificates for a six-month Crime Bill program, as well as courses in depression, anxiety, trauma, socialization, stress management, and coping skills. He has also completed additional coursework through the Edovo platform, including “Parenting While Incarcerated,” and continues to pursue further education and self-improvement.

Donard acknowledges his past and is working toward becoming a better man, father, and member of society. His military service, work history, and rehabilitation efforts demonstrate his commitment to change.

His case reflects broader concerns about excessive sentencing in Alabama, particularly in cases where individuals show clear evidence of rehabilitation and strong family ties.

We are calling on Alabama officials, the parole board, and Governor Kay Ivey to:

Conduct a thorough review of Donard Eugene Beal’s sentence
Consider clemency, sentence reduction, or parole eligibility
Take into account his military service, work history, and rehabilitation efforts
Recognize his commitment to personal growth and reintegration
Address excessive sentencing practices in Alabama

Donard deserves the opportunity to return to his family, contribute to society, and rebuild his life.
