GRANT ISAIAH MCDONALD A FAIR CHANCE AT RELEASE AFTER 22 YEARS OF REHABILITATION!!

GRANT ISAIAH MCDONALD A FAIR CHANCE AT RELEASE AFTER 22 YEARS OF REHABILITATION!!
The Issue
Isaiah McDonald has spent 22 years incarcerated, serving more than half of a 40 year sentence for a crime committed when he was just 20 years old. At the time of his incarceration, Isaiah McDonald had only a 3rd Grade education and lacked the guidance and direction many young people need. But over the past two decades, he has done something extraordinary— he had completely transformed his life!
While incarcerated, Isaiah has: Earned his 8th Grade diploma and G.E.D.
Completed college coursework along several different fields
Maintained a positive, uplifting conduct
And has had institutional jobs and developed real, employable skills.
He has not wasted his time—he has used it to rebuild himself.
Today, Isaiah is prepared for recently with with a structured plan that includes:
A guaranteed job opportunity.
A secondary and primary stable place to live.
A strong family support system committed to helping him succeed.
He has also taken full responsibility for his past, acknowledging the seriousness of his offense and the last impact it has had.
His actions over the past 22 years reflects accountability, growth and genuine rehabilitation.
Why this matter now:
Illinois is evolving. Recent legislative efforts like House Bill 2764 recognize that people who have served long sentences should have the opportunity to demonstrate rehabilitation and be considered for release. Justice is not only about punishment—it is also about growth, redemption, and second chances.
Isaiah has already filed for clemency, which is currently pending. But…he is asking for something fundamental:
A fair review
A parole or release hearing
A chance to prove he is ready to contribute positively to society.
Our Ask: We respectfully urge the Illinois Prisoner Review Board and the Governor of Illinois, J.B. Pritzker, to: Grant Isaiah McDonald a parole/release hearing, or consider his case for clemency or any available relief.
Closing:
Isaiah McDonald is not the same person he was at 20 years old. After 22 years of demonstrated growth, accountability, and preparation, he deserves the opportunity to be seen for who he is today—not just who he was then. Sign this petition to support a second chance for Isaiah McDonald.
