Grant compassionate visa for family reunion in Australia

Grant compassionate visa for family reunion in Australia
The issue
My name is [Suppressed for now], and we are proud new parents, who reside in Australia. Our joy, however, is incomplete, as my frail elderly mother, who we live and care for and has yet to meet her granddaughter. She has been yearning for this moment, asking time and again, yet distance and bureaucracy keep them apart. This is our story in confidence and desperation, seeking a compassionate visitor visa that would allow a family reunion that means the world to us. Our child is an US citizen with Australian/US parents. We have applied and done everything correctly to ensure we bring our child to Australia by law.
Since December 2025, our daughter has been residing in temporary accommodations, which includes 3 countries. We are stuck in the hope of finally seeing her elderly grandmother and many other relatives. This situation is excruciatingly personal and emotionally draining, and it has a ripple effect on our family. Like any mother, she wishes nothing more than to witness her only daughter happy, fulfilled by her own growing family. My mums dream is simple, yet the complexity of visa restrictions makes it seem impossible.
We are at risk of becoming homeless because we've exhausted our resources waiting overseas, hoping and praying for that reunion. Due to covid and other unforseen circumstances, prices have sky-rocketed and our funds are running low, especially being away from home, which is Australia, a nation celebrated for its commitment to family values, empathy, and community support. It is heartbreaking to feel let down. All we want is to see our daughter strive in a loving family environment, and start enjoying her time with her grandmother and enjoy the great outdoors. So many places to visit and spend quality time with her grandmother before her health deteriorates. We love to take them both to places like Puff n Billy, Botanical gardens, 12 Apostles, Werribee zoo etc. She is a genuine visitor.
This is a plea to the Australian government to extend compassion through policy by granting a visitor visa on compassionate grounds. Immigration policies should have room for empathy, especially in circumstances that involve family rights. Granting a visa would not only bring immeasurable joy to a family brought together but uphold the integrity of family values Australia stands for.
We urge the Department of Home Affairs and relevant authorities to consider this request with the humanity it warrants. The reunification of a grandmother with her granddaughter is an essential family cornerstone. Such acts of kindness by granting visitor visas on compassionate grounds have the potential to reinforce Australia's image as a nation that values family ties and cultural inclusivity.
Please sign this petition to help create an opportunity for my mother to meet her granddaughter and fulfil a heartfelt family dream. Our child deserves to start living like every child should. We are Australian citizens and our child has every right to be able to travel to Australia with her parents.
Your support could be the difference in preserving family unity and showcasing the spirit of compassion inherent in Australian society.
