We, the undersigned, call upon Governor Bob Ferguson and the State of Washington to grant clemency to Christopher Havens, in recognition of his extraordinary rehabilitation and his work towards rehabilitating others. 

Last year, the Clemency and Pardons Board voted unanimously to recommend Christopher for a sentence commutation. Christopher is not the only petitioner whose appeal was denied by Governor Bob Ferguson. We demand action not just for Christopher, but for the idea that true accountability includes the opportunity for redemption. Clemency is an essential tool in a balanced and holistic justice system, and has a powerful impact on people's lives. 

Throughout his time in prison, Christopher has dedicated himself to rehabilitation—not just his own, but also that of others. Driven by a genuine desire to help individuals escape lives of crime, Christopher has taken on the role of both a mentor and a guide for his fellow inmates. He founded the Prison Mathematics Project (PMP), a non-profit organization that pairs incarcerated individuals with academic mentors. Through this community, he is giving other prisoners a voice, a purpose, and a path away from recidivism.

But his contributions don't stop there. Christopher has demonstrated remarkable aptitude in the field of mathematics, a gift that has transcended the prison walls. Collaborating with professors around the world, he has published research papers, achieving notable accomplishments that significantly impact the mathematical community.
