Grant Clemency/Parole to Cleatus Paul Furlong, Incarcerated Since 2001

Grant Clemency/Parole to Cleatus Paul Furlong, Incarcerated Since 2001
The Issue
This petition is a plea for justice and compassion for Cleatus Paul Furlong, who has been incarcerated since 2001. At the tender age of 18, on the last day of his Junior Year in High School, he was manipulated into committing a crime by an older career criminal. Despite this grave mistake made under duress and manipulation, Cleatus has shown remarkable growth and remorse during his time in prison. Not only that, he is considered a hero by many. He was convicted of taking the life of a man who molested children. Cleatus's best friend was a victim of the man whose life was taken.
Cleatus grew up in an abusive home by his biological father with no positive role models. At age 12, his Mother remarried, but his Stepfather never showed any real love for Cleatus. He was loved by many at school where he stood out as a protector of those who were bullied and excelled at wrestling. His story is not one of inherent violence or criminality but rather one of manipulation and unfortunate circumstances.
In prison, Cleatus has demonstrated commitment to personal development and rehabilitation. He has earned numerous certificates and passed his paralegal studies with high scores - evidence that he is committed to making amends for his past actions. For almost 13 years now, he hasn't been involved in any trouble within the correctional facility.
Upon release, Cleatus will have ample support from family members and friends who are ready to welcome him back into society. There are also several job opportunities waiting for him that will aid his reintegration process.
We believe that everyone deserves a second chance after paying their dues to society especially when they've shown genuine remorse and commitment towards personal growth like Cleatus Paul Furlong has done. He would've been home last year had he kept his offered plea agreement, and should've never been allowed to withdraw the plea due to legal reasons that I simply don't understand.
We urge you to consider granting parole/clemency to Mr.Furlong as it aligns with principles of justice - punishment should be proportionate but also rehabilitative where possible.
Please sign this petition if you believe in second chances; your signature could change someone's life forever!
