Students at Howard University deserve the opportunity to engage freely with fellow students without arbitrary limitations holding us back.
The current visitation rules restrict access to our dormitories and common areas during late hours, which not only stifles our social interactions but also inhibits our collaborative efforts in academic and extracurricular activities. Evening collaborations are often necessary when balancing hectic class schedules, work commitments, and other responsibilities. Imagine finally finding time to work on a group project, only to be cut short because visitation hours are over. This limitation is detrimental to our academic success and personal development.
Moreover, allowing 24/7 visitation aligns with the practices of many other prestigious institutions, which recognize the importance of student autonomy and trust. By revising our visitation policies, Howard University can join in fostering an environment that respects student independence while encouraging a sense of responsibility.
