Last night I received an email with a statement from the president of Grand Valley State University, Philomena V. Mantella. It read:

"The GVSU community is deeply saddened by Quinn's death.  I am thankful for your concern for your fellow students.  To all who are signing or commenting on this petition, I welcome your input and am committed to reviewing all suggestions.  Please reach out to those around you who may need care or support.  Help is available."

This is a great sign that our campaign has the potential to catalyze real change on our campus, but the fight is far from over.  Now is the time to stand together as a community and show President Mantella that we will not quit until we can rest knowing that Quinn Campbell will be the last Laker to end their life on the Little Mac bridge.

If you haven't already, I ask that you share this petition on social media so that we can garner more support and possibly some media attention (an important tool in our fight for university action).  Another great way to spread the word is to share the link to this survey with your professors - we're going to need the faculty on our side if we want to create lasting change.  And if you really want to go the extra mile, you can email President Mantella directly at president@gvsu.edu and make your individual voice heard.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all of your support thus far.  I have been absolutely blown away by the rapid and robust response.  I especially appreciate those who have been donating to increase the visibility of this petition, and those who have left comments explaining why they signed.  Whenever I feel the seeds of doubt creeping in, I read those reasons and remind myself that together, we are capable of creating lasting change and saving lives.

In Solidarity,

Logan Congdon
