Re-open PA

The Issue

We're at a point where the cost to humanity AND human life from the extended shelter-in-place and economic shutdown is outweighing the costs of the coronavirus and it's time for a dispassionate discussion about this issue.  The rise in depression, suicide, anxiety, addiction, and other health complications (heart attacks, strokes) is taking a toll on the people of Pennsylvania.  Additionally, many experts agree that child abuse and domestic violence has risen significantly during this prolonged lock down.  Not to mention the significant economic hardship many are facing and the dignity that is stripped away from not being able to work.  Remember the opioid epidemic that came out of the Great Recession and all the lives lost from that here in PA?  Our people are HURTING from these draconian measures.

As more and more data comes out, many experts are reporting that the fatality rate from COVID-19 could be as low as .5% or even less.  Still other experts believe the infection rate is significantly higher than what's being reported meaning the virus is not as dangerous as we thought.  Below is just a sampling of articles on these topics:

We have to have a balanced approach to keeping everyone healthy and safe.  There's going to be a graveyard of businesses if this closure continues and many lives will be ruined.  If wearing masks keeps us safe, why not open up businesses and employment and wear masks?  There are many other safety precautions we can take AND keep our businesses open AND our state working while protecting those at greatest risk.  This benefits all of us!
