Hello, my name is Meghan McGonagle and I am a central NH resident. On August 1st, while I was out at lunch, I got a call no one ever wants to receive, my boyfriend/best friend had gone missing on the Merrimack River. Less than an hour later he was rushed to the hospital and at age 15, was pronounced dead. He is not the only one this has happened too. The bend between the Boscawen Boat Launch and the Hannah Dustin memorial is one of the deadliest river bends on the Merrimack. Sign this petition to get that bend of the river shut down or regulated to swimmers, tubers, and others to help ensure no other family has to get that call. But that is not enough. I also have other proposals that will strike interest such as enforcement of life jacket laws, potential buoy ropes along dangerously strong current areas, as well as constant patrol boats circling common drown sites. These changes will save and prevent unwanted tragedies.
