ZACK'S ACT LOWER SPEED LIMITS on Hwy 37 North in Jefferson County Illinois

The Issue

Speed limits not Monitored or enforced on Hwy 37 North and South and Saddle Club Road ,city of Bonnie in Jefferson County Illinois.  Roads are unkept and Eroded in the same Area. Zack Wade, my son, lost his life at saddle club road and Hwy 37 South in Bonnie Illinois. He slid on icy road conditions, Those roads were not salted , They are not blocked off when dangerous, There are no signs for spots in the road that are known to ice. Visiting the site where Zack Died, I noted several vehicles ,almost all of them, flying down that road well past 55 miles per hour, over a slight Hill. There are houses with children and pets on those roads. I've taken note of many deaths that have occurred on that road due to traffic speeds and road conditions.
I am proposing a traffic calming speed sign for Bonnie, Data may be collected so that law enforcement  has a better idea of time frames to come out and enforce speed limits. County sheriff patrols for these areas are a Must!  The road conditions must be updated, with a widening of the roads with much better upkeep during Bad weather! Possible warning signs on the worst parts of the roads during that weather. The State of Illinois is responsible for our safety on their roads that we pay taxes on. They may not want to be responsible but they are. Yes it's up to us to travel safer roads and know the weather conditions. But we pay them to make sure our highways are safe for all people. The company that my son worked for Employs roughly 3400 people that travel from Mount Vernon, nearly a quarter employees travel to and from using Illinois highway 37 North and South.  I call this Proposal  "Zack's Act" , Please take action, So one more mother doesn't have to bury her child.

More of a presence by a local authorities to help control or calm traffic speeds. Salting upkeep during bad weather  And/or caution signs and roadblocks during bad weather. Traffic calming signs approaching small towns and small areas and updated Road Repairs .

On March 08, 2019 my son Zack J Wade,  25 years old,  Was traveling home from his workplace, It was sleeting ice outside,  the roads were slick in some spots.  Zack's car  Slid on some ice into on coming traffic. Trying to regain control of the vehicle and avoid going into a ditch , he remained in the road ,which is very narrow with nowhere to go,  where he was struck by oncoming traffic. He was killed instantly, his car was unrecognizable. So many of the things that day could have changed the outcome completely. I am using this pain and this tragedy to save someone else's life.
