To whom it may concern:

I, Isaac Saiz, was sentenced as an adult at the age of 16 by the STATE of Kansas. Decided: January 14, 1999. I was convicted and sentenced to a term of life imprisonment - hard 40 for first-degree murder. I was also sentenced to 49 months for criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied building and to 194 months for each of the two attempted first-degree murder convictions.I clearly remember the day as if it were yesterday, and would give anything in the world to turn back the hands of time.. I can’t even count the amount of times those actions on that day take  place in my mind, regretting and wishing I could change them. I am truly sorry. Not only to the victims family but my own as well and everyone that it has affected. My mother, father, uncle, cousins, and numerous best friends have all since passed away from gang violence and drug abuse and that is part of the reason why I am so passionate to help break this cycle.

I have spent the last 26 years of my life in prison since the age of 16. It’s hard to communicate the difficulties I experienced in my childhood. I can say that I did not experience a normal childhood, which led me to turn to gangs and drugs. I know that even with that it is still now excuse and I deserve the time that I have served. But I feel I am not the mistake that was made that night and people can change. And if given the chance I can prove that. And I know that even though it’s been difficult , being institutionalized for most of my life is not going to be an easy transition to the real world, if given a second chance at life and clemency. I can honestly say the actions that took place the night I will regret the most for the rest of my life has changed me into the better person who I have become today, and it doesn’t stop here, I will continue to strive and set an example for youth that had similar walks of life, to think about their actions that can change their life forever. I have grown up, now a 42  year old man that I am today.

Throughout the years of incarceration I have made some mistakes but have  determined to become a better person. I obtained a degree in biblical counseling and theology. I have studied psychology for four years. I self taught myself sign language. I graduated from hospice care, learned to train service dogs. I taught a class to my peer inmates based on the book 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey. I also used my time productively to learn how to draw and design beadwork. I also achieved a successful music career and record label. I have worked with several celebrities, and kept pushing myself even though all odds were against me. It has become my passion to help others with a book I published in 2014, Called Tears Of A Killer, Diary Of An Inmate - The True Story Of Isaac Saiz. In 2025 I wrote my first children’s book “Love you through the bars”. In 2026 I wrote a devotional book “ Prayers from a prison cell” and Freedom within rebuilding yourself and your community. After 27 years behide bars” also started a podcast named “Get Con’d”,  and started a non profit named “Rebuild N Rise”. I also starting teaching 2 different classes. A trauma class and a art therapy class. I would like to eventually own my own at risk youth facility to have a place where children can feel safe and do things children are supposed to do. Even during my time of incarceration, I have held fundraisers and  donated to the community. I have organized numerous events for the homeless, single mothers in need, as well as been an active advocate about anti-bullying and “MMIW” Murder and Missing Indigenous Women. I’ve even started my own magazine called “Unlocked” the Magazine.com Which helps in reconnecting the incarcerated with the communities in a positive way as well as started a prison penpal site called SnailMail2Jail. Although not everyone may agree with me having my two kids while incarcerated I feel that was the biggest blessing God could have given me to change my ways, only a loving, caring parent could do. I would be humbled to have the chance to give them the father I know they both deserve. I know given the opportunity for a second chance at life, I would never make any decisions that would lead me back to incarceration.
