Stop Correctional Officer abuse on incarcerated individuals. Marcy Correctional Facility needs to be closed down for good. That facility is tainted! The officers are all corrupt including counseling and nurses. On September 24, 2024 my husband was severely beaten while handcuffed, tortured for hours then thrown into solitary confinement! After two weeks and constant calling to the prison I was told he was in observation and he could not get any visits or make calls! After many attempts to NYSDoccs, OSI and other entities I was met with silence and no further from knowing where my husband was. On October 4, 2024 ( 10 )days later, I received a call from my husband that he was sexually groped, beaten and tortured for hours. That he got to a point where they had him tied to a chair for over 6 hours where he attempted to get up after seing a phone to call 911 using his nose since he was cuffed and fell to the ground. He was met with kicking and slapping and punching him with his own sneakers. He was then slammed to the chair where a Lieutenant punched him so hard in the back of his neck that he fell so far forward and hit a table and split his brow open. I immediately contacted OSI and PREA. They began to starve him for days where he began to eat tissue with toothpaste to feel full. I received a message via email from Associate Commissioner and Prea coordinator; Jason Effman that the matter was investigated and was in receipt. His mom immediately visited on 10/6. After the visit the CO’s indicated they found a weapon in one of the books THEY gave him. He was issued a ticket. They were retaliating because I would continue to repirt and record everything.  I emailed Jason Effman and OSI again and told them someone needed to investigate that my husband was not safe and needed to be removed from there. That my complaints were causing retaliation and that he was being threatened. On 10/8 I did not hear from my husband. Upon calling the prison they indicated he was being interviewed by OSI. After speaking with Ms. Ballou a supervising case worker, she indicated that he would not be calling today because it wasnt mandatory. On 10/9 I contacted the prison again and spoke to counselor kinkade who indicated that my husband was again in observation.  Why?  I explained that last “so called” observation was when they almost beat him to death and they stated “hes with mental health” although I am in all his HIPAA forms they refused to talk to me. On 10/10 I contacted the prison and again was met with either resistance and told he was in observation. On October 11 at 9:53am I was contacted by Dr. Phelps at Wynn Hospital that my husband was assaulted and would need emergency surgery and 5 of his ribs would need plating and he had a punctured lung and broken hand as well as neck bruises. They indicated my husband was in the hospital since August 9 the day after OSI visited him, although I was told he was in ovservation. After speaking with my husband he indicated that he was assaulted yet again after ISI left. He indicated OSI was laughing and joking with the same CO’s who attacked him. He knew nothing would be done and that he was going to die just having months left of a 16 year sentence at the hands of thise who were thier to reintegrate and keep them safe!  He indicated that when brought to nurse that the nurse told him if hes talking then hes fine; only to be rushed via ambulance minutes later. My husbands xrays could not be effectively taken because the CO’s eould not take his cuffs off. My husband suffered a hemmirage because of it and landed in ICU. He was released on 10/23 to Five Points where he spent another two weeks in the infirmary. 

Robert Brooks death on Dec 9, 2024 could have been avoided if the state would have done thier due diligence! Everyone should be held accountable for thier part in this sad ending. Mr. Brooks could still be here. This could have been my husband just two months prior! Justice for my husband, but more Justice for the fallen Mr. Robert Brooks. May he rest in peace and his family get the justice they deserve! I am still fighting! Even harder now following this tragic and painful death. 

We must unite for our loved ones! Marcy Correctional does not have a leader in charge! They must all be fired! They are all responsible! They watched and did nothing! Just like they did to my husband! Our loved ones arent safe at this prison!
