There is hope on the horizon! Sarah's county recently announced the creation of a Conviction Integrity Unit that will work to prevent, identify, and remedy wrongful convictions by conducting fact-based reviews of post convictions.

     Head Prosecutor Ryan Mears said, "Incarcerating an individual who did not commit the crime undermines the integrity of the judicial system and does not bring justice to the victims."

   The Unit begins accepting requests for review of convictions in early 2021, and we want to be the first in line to apply! This is a HUGE first step for Indiana. We commend the community of Indianapolis for valuing integrity and fairness in the criminal justice system.
