Local area lawyer and iconoclast Jason C.N. Smith who fronts an effort to remove veterans monuments from public property in Fort Worth is at it again. The target remains the distinguished veterans monument on the grounds of the Tarrant County Court House which honors veterans from the Confederacy, Spanish-American War, World War I and World war II. The monument is being mis-represented by radical left iconoclasts as a symbol of racism, hate and white supremacy.
The Southern Poverty Law Center and its allies are aware of pending legislation in the Texas House of Representatives and Senate which, if passed, would thwart their efforts.
Right now we need Texans to help out by calling Senator Brian Birdwell and asking him to schedule a committee hearing date for SB1663. Senator Brian Birdwell’s number is 512-463-0122. You can also send him an email at https://senate.texas.gov/member.php?d=22 .
The picture is from the Durham County Courthouse in North Carolina in 2017. The venerable Fort Worth veterans monument could face the same fate as that in Durham if a monuments protection act is not passed soon.
