We have just received this important e-mail letter from Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick which is pasted below for all to see. We will soon find out if his words translate into deeds. Remember, it was Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick who, along with other board members of the State Preservation Board, recently voted to have the Children of the Confederacy Monument removed from the Capitol!
Please contact Lieutenant Governor Patrick and request that he follow up on his words by acting immediately to return all historical monuments, particularly the Children of the Confederacy monument, to their original locations.
"Dan Patrick
Lieutenant Governor of Texas
President of the Senate
Thank you for contacting the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.
Lieutenant Governor Patrick has been very clear where he stands on this issue. He is firmly against removing any monuments from the State Capitol or anywhere else in the state and he does not support any attempt to re-write history by removing evidence of people or events from the past. Two bills have been filed in the Texas Senate on this issue and the Lieutenant Governor has encouraged both the bill authors to move this legislation forward.
You may also want to contact your state representative and state senator who have unique familiarization and the institutional knowledge of issues in your local area. Their contact information is online at https://fyi.capitol.texas.gov/
Thank you for writing the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.
Sincerely,
Darrell Farr
Director of Constituent Affairs
Office of Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick"
