Safer habitat for sea turtles

The Issue

Sea turtles are now endangered species. We humans are one of the main causes for this, and action is already being taken. Action, yes, but not sufficient action. Illegal poaching still goes on, and turtles end up on bracelets and other accessories rather than in the sea. When they hatch, many baby turtles are already eaten by sea birds, so this impacts their population greatly. Us humans aren't making it much easier. With all the toxic waste we dispose, more and more sea turtles are affected. Plastic bags, plastic straws, one-time-usage plastic cutlery, and plastic in general are gravely impacting these creatures. If we, step by step, eliminate usage of plastic, we can help these sea turtles. Governments of regions where sea turtles thrive must place stricter rules, and much more severe consequences. Any person who knowingly harms sea turtles may face a fine of up to $25,000 or criminal penalty up to $100,000 and up to one year imprisonment. This may seem like a lot, but if poaching of this animal still happens so much, it must be a risk worth taking for poachers. The fines and penalties should be raised, and all activity which goes on in the areas of sea turtles should me monitored. Sea turtles should be swimming with the fishes, not sleeping with them.
