The corrupt Chinese government has been committing fraud and human rights abuses literally forever, and with the outbreak of COVID-19, it's time the western world put their foot down and demanded that the Chinese government change its ways.

The Chinese government has put the entire globe at risk by initially covering up COVID-19, which originated in China, and allowing it to get out of control. More recently, the Chinese government has kicked all American reporters out of the country because they don't like the coverage they're receiving. 

Other than covering up COVID-19, which the entire globe is now paying with their lives for, here are some of the other crimes this Chinese government has committed:

- Repressing and abusing the 13 million Turkish Muslims living in China’s northwestern Xinjiang region, who have been put into concentration camps and tortured. They also continue to repress Christians.
- No free speech for their citizens, and imprisonment, torture and / or death for anyone who speaks out about the Chinese government. This includes journalists and human rights activists.
- Surveilling all citizens and even collecting biometrics and DNA in their "social credit" experiment, which stops citizens from travelling, getting a loan or a mortgage, and many other vital things if you aren't behaving how the Chinese government thinks you should. All of these systems are being deployed without effective privacy protections in law or in practice, and often people are unaware that their data is being gathered, or how it is used or stored.
- Continued business corruption, such as being in cahoots with Huawei to install "back-door" technology which allows the government to spy on anyone using Huawei's phones. This is one of the charges the US has made against Huawei, and is among the reasons for Huawei's CFO Meng Wanzhou being held and tried in Vancouver.
- In response to Huawei's CFO being held in Vancouver, the Chinese government has arrested and charged 2 innocent Canadians in retaliation, with a third (already having drug charges against him) being sentenced to death. Moreover, China has invented problems with Canada's canola product (which is exported to China), and as a result halted imports of the product, which has devastated Canada's canola industry.
- No animal rights legislation, and no food safety legislation. Allowing dogs and cats to be skinned alive in markets, allowing animals to be kept in the most horrid conditions, allowing animals and meat to be openly displayed and traded in markets in unhygienic conditions, which has been the cause of a number of global epidemics, including the Asian Flu, SARS, H7N9, and now COVID-19. The unhygienic and overpopulated nature of China has killed millions upon millions of people worldwide, and COVID-19 won't be the last pandemic China causes. 
- Changing legislation in 2018 so that the current President, Xi Jinping, can rule for as long as he wants
- The government maintains tight control over the internet, mass media, and academia.
- Chinese citizens have no rights. The government is not subject to the rule of law, and continues to do whatever it likes.

The corrupt ways of the Chinese government are growing, and now the entire world is threatened because of it. Despite its horrible offences, western countries continue to trade with China, which allows it to continue operating as it has been. There have been little repercussions for the Chinese government's offences, and it's time that there were. Sign this petition demanding that the Canadian and US governments halt all trade with China. Halting trade is the only way that China may be forced to change its ways.
