Create more University places for students taking A levels in 2021.
The Issue
The A level u turn fiasco has led to universities offering an excess of places to A level students in 2020. This has led to many universities deferring student entry to 2021.
This has a knock on effect on students taking A levels in 2021, where there will be an expected reduction in places available by upto 15 % and much greater competition for a reduced number of university places. This has a direct detrimental effect on their future outcomes and careers.
We urge the government to look into this matter as a matter of urgency and increase the number of places available to national students in 2021 in order to compensate for this expected reduction in the number of university places.
