Government should not be allowed to use private health services

El problema

To ensure that government officials are directly invested in the public health system they oversee and develop, we propose the following statement for clarity:

Interestingly, this is already policy enforced in a number of government-related positions, but it is not enforced for government officials.

Government officials, including elected representatives, appointed officials, civil servants, judicial officials, and local government officials, should not be allowed to use private health services or insurance. Instead, they should be required to use the public health services that they are responsible for developing and maintaining.

This should include all Public Service Decision-Makers:

Elected Officials:

  • Members of Parliament (MPs)
  • Mayors
  • Local Councillors

Appointed Officials:

  • Cabinet Members and Ministers
  • Ambassadors and Diplomats
  • Special Advisors
  • Heads of Regulatory Agencies

Civil Servants and Bureaucrats:

  • Department and Agency Directors
  • Senior Civil Servants and Managers
  • Regulatory Officials

Judicial Officials:

  • Judges
  • Magistrates

Local Government Officials:

  • County Councillors
  • Municipal Department Heads (e.g., Public Health, Public Works)
