Day 36-Post Submission | Preliminary Update on Today's UTech, Ja - GOJ Subvention Mtg

Hi Friends,

Thanks for your prayers for today for UTech Jamaica, and your continued monitoring of the *UTech Jamaica - GOJ Subvention discussions*. As you know another meeting took place today 10-05-2019, scheduled for 4 pm. The 3rd meeting since the joint Union protest of February 20th, 2019

My sources indicate that arising from the meeting was an agreement for an adjustment of the Subvention to the University. I am not sure whether the adjustment was to the extent that the University’s management requested. They had asked for approx. $5B.

We await our President’s Prof. Vasciannie’s update to the University. This we hope will be early next week.

In addition, I am not sure whether the adjustment promised will cover the retroactive payment + current salary adjustment, owed to our academic colleagues from 2015/2017.

We await the Academic Union’s (UTASU) update.

Do continue to monitor the matter of our Government’s stewardship of our national University.

And be assured, your support and interest makes a significant and positive difference in these dicey matters of #justice and #accountability.

I will share an update once the above-mentioned outstanding details are clarified.
