Day 49 - Post Submission | Still Awaiting Official Statement from GOJ & UTech Ja on Subvention

Hi Friends,
Happy Labour Day to those supporters based in Jamaica and a safe and satisfying weekend to all.
By way of update, since the May 10th, 2019 meeting hosted by the Government of Jamaica with the Management of the University of Technology, Jamaica [UTech Academic Staff Union (UTASU) in attendance] to discuss the Government's Subvention, there has been no official statement on the meeting and related agreements, to the public or university community from either our Government, or the Management of UTech, Jamaica.
Now...there have been various "UTech Ja Subvention" mentions in the news media subsequent to the meeting. Such as those noted below.
However...not a word of update from any of the principals in the matter.
So we are yet to learn from an official source
- Whether the Government of Jamaica increased the subvention to UTech, Jamaica, and if so, was it commensurate with need?
- If an increase was granted, what is the amount?
- If an increase was granted, are their conditions attached to how it should be used by UTech, Jamaica?
- If an increase was granted, when will it be disbursed?
- If an increase was granted, and it was less than the stated need, what is the plan of the Management of UTech, Jamaica going forward, given its financial challenges?
