For a very long time, gaming, eSports and streaming have no recognition in India. Instead they are considered as an entertainment rather than a sport so for that reason we are taxed 35% as Entertainment whereas other sports are taxed only 20%.

Since the aim is to make Gaming recognised in India, college reservations and scholarships can be given to gamers in India just as how athletes are given.

The real reason gaming is discouraged by our parents is because there is no scope in India for gaming because of this exact reason.

We also face trouble of “you are wasting your time and go study”. This is not the case with all. Some people play cricket for fun whereas others want to become cricketers in future. It is the same with gaming.

Other countries already recognise eSports so why should our country not recognise as one? By now, countries such as the US, Finland, and even the somewhat reticent Germany have acknowledged esports as a sport. The very first few nations (along with South Korea) to recognise esports as a sport were China and South Africa. Russia, Italy, Denmark, and Nepal have also joined.

This only helps India grow further and faster and in the future when gamers aren’t able to represent India in future we are not the losers after all. We have technology and sports in our blood so let us that means we as a generation continue that legacy, not just cringing in pain when our parents  say “ Sharma ji ka beta dekha hain tumne kitna percentage le atah hain ghar ko”
