This happened in Kerala, a state with a 100% Literacy rate and best known for its nature and even the Tusky giants. The pregnant elephant didn't destroy anything and entered the village only to find some food. Even so, some sadistic ruthless humans fed it a pineapple with firecrackers inside it.

After eating it, the jaw and tongue of the elephant were so severely injured that it couldn't eat anything for a week until its death and even didn't harm any human even after all the suffering. After a week of suffering the elephant entered into the water and left its soul as it is common for the elephants to enter into the water before they die.

Humanity is Dead. Yet, this incident isn't new to the state or our country. Animal abuse has become so common in India mainly due to the lack of strict punishment/penalty. Heck, people are taking it for granted so much so that they are injuring/killing animals just to gain popularity on sites like Tiktok, Youtube, etc.

This has to STOP right now. We can only change the situation by imposing very strict punishments like a High money penalty or lifelong imprisonment against those who abuse animals. Only then it can send shock waves in the country and more people will be aware of the punishment. This is the ONLY way to curb animal cruelty.
