Make nicotine-containing vapes illegal in Australia

The issue

I am a mother of a 15 year old female who, in a very short space of time, has become highly addicted to vapes which contain nicotine. I am appalled at the ease by which minors can obtain these dangerous devices which are clearly geared towards young people. There are an extraordinary number of flavours and the devices are generally affordable, priced from $20 upwards, are easily concealed and are considered "cool". My daughter and many of her friends have found purchasing these devices very easy. She has now been hospitalised with a severe asthma attack induced by the vaping and is on a nicotine withdrawal programme at the tender age of 15. That is just heartbreaking for any parent. She disclosed to the hospital that she was using the device as often as every 15 minutes and is highly addicted. She is far from the only child in this situation - schools are struggling to contain this problem, parents are in the dark as to how addictive they are and the companies manufacturing them are making money despite knowing how incredibly dangerous these are to our young people. Worse still is that we don't yet know the mid to long-term side effects of this habit but can only imagine it won't be positive.
