2 days into lockdown my grandad was put into a care home due to having a fall one of many. Since that day we as a family have not been able to see him without a fence in between us or a carer overlooking with absolute no physical contact. He has vascular dementia so you can only imagine how hard it is to explain how hard it is that we cant hold his hand or go near him or give him a cwtch when he is upset. He is forgetting family members every single day he has not been able to see his great grandchildren scince march only on facetime which is not ideal as he only has sight in the one eye which is not the best. His birthday was in July he was 86 we wasnt able to give him gifts without them being took of us to be disinfected. These could be the last few months of his life and we are not able to spend it with him. I'm not just doing this for him or for myself I am doing this for all of the elderly who are in care homes or hospitals without daily contact with their family which is what they are entitled to I cant imagine how frustrating it must be for them to feel like the forgotten ones to not see a familiar face for weeks at a time. Our grandparents and parents are dieing alone because of loneliness and broken hearts. Thank you x
