Dear Boris,

During this time of uncertainty and panic we are requesting for the 2021 GCSE and A-level exams to be cancelled. Year 10 and 12 pupils are currently at home trying to self-educate themselves for their examinations next year. However, this isn't ideal as student will have to teach themselves months of new content. The fact that they are expected to sit exams in less than a year is quite unfair, bearing in mind that they are not being given an adequate amount of support. Pupils GCSEs and A-level results are the foundation to their future careers and success. Given that the year 10 and 12s are self-educating at home, not only are they worrying about their grades but they are also worrying about their well being during this global pandemic. During times like this there already is a lot of anxiety and stress and the fact that students have to sit their exams next year deteriorates their mental well-being. Cancelling the exams helps to remove the mental stress of the year 10 and 12 students allowing them to focus on themselves and their families well-being.Instead of continuing the GCSEs next year it would be sensible to cancel them and for teachers to grade students based on their classwork, similar to what has been done to the 2020 exams.Please sign this petition, we can make a difference, together we can make a change to help the younger generation of our society.
