Chloe Ennis started this petition to Goverment and

I want the Government and Parliament to address and acknowledge that there are knowingly workers in Leicester that are being treated like slaves/human trafficking with no human rights or fair pay in the garment industry. Working with fashion brands that allow this to happen and the government taking action they should give the workers the rights to work in the UK with a fair pay and a safe space to work.

I want the Government to do this as it is against basic Human Rights and goes against the UN Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 16 and 17 that the UK have pledged to achieve. Therefore the Government has a duty of care to these workers who are being exploited. In the time of Covid the garment workers need a voice more than ever to protect them from ill health and to be able to afford basic human essentials.

This should not be a question of should it should be a must! To start to end poverty it must start on our door step as promised. Imagine working solid hours each week for only £3 per hour or less? To provide from themselves, a family and a place to live? These are people like you and me that work hard to provide themselves with essential that they most likely struggle to afford. This is not a way of life for anybody and is dramatically below the minimum wage let alone the living wage for UK standards.

I must call out these fast fashion brands like Boohoo working on slavery and damaging our home. You have a duty of care. We must demand better from these companies for the people making our clothes and impacts it has.

Please do take action by signing and sharing. If you do so it is a voice for people who do not have one and in hope to create a better quality of life for someone else.
