CALL TO ACTION! Dear neighbors, On March 22, 2018, at a meeting of the Riviera Isles Blasting Committee we presented an update on our efforts, and we made the attendees aware of the fact that based on the emails received from the residents, we were able to identify blasts in 2017 which WRQ failed to report to the State Fire Marshal as required by law. According to our records, the unreported blasts happened on the following dates: 1. January 24 2. February 1 3. February 13 4. April 3 5. April 27 6. April 28 7. June 12 8. June 28 9. June 29 10. June 30 11. July 1 12. October 26 13. October 31 14. November 6 15. November 10 16. November 27 17. December 11 18. December 19 We have been asking the residents to report the blasts via email, and many of you have done it consistently. You can verify the missing dates by comparing your information with the 145 blasting reports that we uploaded on our Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/pg/nomoreblasting/photos/?tab=album&album_id=428106144315907). If you reported any of these blasts, and you agree with us that this situation needs to be further investigated, we ask you to please copy/paste the following request and send it via email to the Office of the Inspector General (cig@eog.myflorida.com): "Dear Chief Inspector General, I am writing to request an investigation of State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis for his and his office's failure to provide proper oversight of the blasting activities of White Rock Quarries (WRQ). As a point of reference, our neighborhood has been affected by the constant blasting from the aforementioned company. They are mandated to report each blast to the State Fire Marshal. Due to the increasing intensity of the explosions, I have been submitting formal complaints to the State Fire Marshal's office in which I report the blast directly to them. After reviewing the attached data, I have found that on _____ WRQ did not report blasting activity which I documented via email. This is not an isolated incident, there were other blasts which were not reported to the State Fire Marshal's Office. By law, White Rock Quarries needs to send comprehensive reports of their blasting activity to the State Fire Marshal. It is the Fire Marshal's responsibility to make sure that they receive all the reports of all the blasting activity in a timely fashion. The State Fire Marshal was made aware of WRQ's lackadaisical attitude towards the reporting requirements via a 2017 audit report authored by Lampl Herbert Consultants that should be in your possession already. It is clear that White Rock Quarries are not reporting blasts as required by statute and the State Fire Marshal's office is committing malfeasance by not holding them accountable for their failure to comply. I can be reached at ______________ if more information is needed. Respectfully, _________" Feel free to edit this template by adding your personal experience with the blasting. Please remember to cc: nomoreblastingrivieraisles@yahoo.com on the email. You will receive a letter from the Office of the Chief Inspector General like the one above. Please forward that letter to us and keep us posted on any future communication. "One of us can be dismissed, two of us can be ignored, but together we are a movement and we are unstoppable." Thank you for your continuous support.
