Dear neighbors,
Our concerns were featured in several news stories this week, the media interest was sparked by this article in Monday's Miami Herald. Spanish language stations Univision, AmericaTeve and Caracol radio also ran segments that featured several residents telling their stories.
The reporting covered only the superficial issues relating to property damage. There are more interesting stories from our plight left to tell. There are stories of the psychological impact of the blasts on vulnerable residents, there is the story of how the DOAH process unfairly favors the miners in the claims process, and then there is the story of how political contributions by and on behalf of the industry to unethical politicians--including the Chief Financial Officer, removed the claims process from civil court and created the unfair DOAH process.
Please share this article, clicks reflect public interest and public interest can result in the media taking the time to tell these other stories, which in fact could be bigger and more relevant than those they've reported on in the past. The immediate result of the media attention was that WRQ removed the link to the blasting schedule...we now have their attention. They expect us to back off and go away quickly, we must show them that we will not back off, instead, we will redouble our efforts.
