Dear neighbors, On Wednesday, September 7th, Miramar City Commission unanimously approved resolution #16-191 presented by Commissioner Yvette Colbourne: "Objecting to the Blasting that is taking place near the City and causing damage to properties within the City, and directing the City attorney to investigate and research actions that can be taken by the City, including potential legislation and potential litigation, that would mitigate damage caused by blasting. (City Attorney Jamie A. Cole, Requested by Commissioner Yvette Colbourne)." First, we want to say THANK YOU to the members of the Blasting Committee and other residents who attended the meeting and voiced their concerns. We were able to get the attention and support of the City Commission. We know that this resolution is not going to solve the problem immediately, but this is again, one more step in the right direction. Now we need to make sure that there are no empty seats when this issue is discussed at future meetings. We cannot keep saying that the blasting is affecting "thousands of people" if only twenty people show up. YOUR ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT TO ALL OF US. Remember to wear RED. Important dates: - September 19th at 7:00 pm. LENNAR project community meeting @ the City Commission. - October 18th at 6:30 pm. LENNAR Project Planning and Zoning Board @ the City Commision. - October 19th at 7:00 pm. BLASTING report will be presented by the City Attorney. We have a long way ahead of us. WE NEED YOU.
