Despite claims that mute swans are an invasive species in New York, according to the DEC's own data, their population has remained stable for decades. The rationales provided for killing these magnificent creatures are deeply flawed, and countless experts have submitted comments and issued public statements critical of the scientific basis for the DEC’s proposal. 

We shouldn’t kill off one animal population on the misguided belief that we are helping to save another, and certainly not, at the very least, without unequivocal evidence to support such extreme and irreversible action.
