Inmates need something to look forward to. Most non violent offenders are in prison for crimes that really shouldn't merit prison time. These crimes consist of bad checks, child support, and many other issues. These offenders are wasting tax payers money. All non violent offenders no matter what habitual non violent offenders included should qualify for good time or a tether program. The tether program would put money back into Michigan's economy because the inmate has to pay to be on tether and if they can't they go back but it's an option so the offender can be a productive member of society and be out. Everyone is worried about violent offenders being released we are talking about non violent offenders who should not spend 2 or 3 years in prison for a non violent offense.
