Open Golf Courses In Ireland

Open Golf Courses In Ireland
The Issue
Golfers throughout the country were shocked by the Irish government’s decision this week to close courses during current Level 5 lockdown restrictions. in place nationwide.
We want to show the government how much golf means to Ireland and how much we want it back.
Notwithstanding this awful pandemic and the societal duty of care we all have to our fellow citizens, golf has proved it can operate safely with clear and safe protocols in place.
As Ireland’s leading multi-course operator, managing six golf venues on the island, we’re in a unique position to evidence just how safe golf has been following the re-opening of courses in May.
- Over 130,000 rounds of golf played since 18 May at six venues we manage
- Enabling over 500,000 hours of socially distanced, controlled, outdoor exercise
- 0 positive Covid-19 cases reported by 120 staff under our management
- 0 positive Covid-19 cases reported by the 130,000 golfers
- 0 track and trace notifications from 4,000 members we service
- 0 days of precautionary closure across our six managed venues
The lack of positive cases recorded or tracked back to Golf Clubs we manage was no fluke. A series of well thought out and bespoke measures were implemented to minimise the risk of virus spread.
Golf has provided vital respite and headspace for people dealing with extreme change and uncertainty through summer. Consideration must be given to the significant mental health benefits a round of golf has and will continue to provide.
Golf is an outdoor activity, played over hundreds of acres with an ease of social distancing. It makes no sense that golfers are now unable to get outside and exercise.
Then there is the business of golf – it directly employs thousands with a supply chain of 10,000s all impacted by its closure.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO BRING BACK GOLF IN IRELAND
Please support and SHARE our campaign with family, friends, medical professionals, TD's and the wider public. We must get the message across and re-open courses.
It’s time for a Mulligan. #bringbackgolf.
On behalf of the entire team at Carr Golf - THANK YOU!
