Surfers Paradise Skate Park

Surfers Paradise Skate Park
The issue
This is a petition to Tom Tate to propose the idea of a new beachfront skatepark in the heart of Surfers Paradise.
Investing into facilities like skateparks is not only an investment in fitness, family fun and a way for local and visiting skaters to hone in their skills, but is also an investment into an iconic city attraction.
A professionally-designed and well-maintained skatepark can bring new life into your community. When you take the time and effort to create a unique facility, the economic rewards can be felt almost immediately. Word travels fast in the skateboarding world and with a new showpiece to offer, skateboarders and their families will flock to our community and spend their vacation dollars.
Based on the design concept of the Venice Beach park, a similar design on the beachfront in Surfers Paradise would do incredible things for the community; but would become a tourist attraction for young skaters worldwide. Opening the public Surfers Paradise Beach Front Park would also open doors to holding special events like X-Games and inviting special guests like pro-skaters for brand exposure events.
The closest park to Surfers Paradise is in Miami (Pizzey Park) which is a 15 minute drive away from the heart of the cities tourism. Placing the park on the Surfers Paradise Boulevard would be easy access to the entire city with access from everywhere via the G: and would encourage the youth to get out and remain fit.
Signing this petition is an indication that you agree and support the idea and would encourage it to be presented to council.
